"March" Into Spring Savings!
With Valentine's day behind us and the Easter bunny hopping our way, sometimes we forget what our four-legged friends are able to eat and what could be toxic for them. March is actually Pet Poison Prevention Month. All those human treats are not good for Fido or your sweet kitty no matter how much they beg!
Most people know that items like Chocolate are not good for pets, but did you know Avocado, Grapes/Raisins, Onion, and food with Xylitol (artifical sweetener found in many sugar-free candies, gums, baked goods, and toothpaste) are also items that can hurt your animals.
Avocados contain Persin which can cause vomiting and diarrhea in your pet and even cause death in small animals like rodents and birds.Grapes/Raisins have been known to cause kidney failure in some dogs and cats. Onions have Allium which can damage red blood cells. Xylitol is an artificial sweetener common in many low calorie items and easily digested by us, but extremely harmful to pets, leading to severe drops in blood pressure and/or liver failure. For a complete list of items check out www.petpoisonhelpline.com. Please make sure to keep items like these away from your pet and make sure they have plenty of healthy pet friendly treats!
Make sure that they get regular exercise and a balanced diet. With our focus this month on pet health, please check out March's Savings Pass Club Specials:
